 Firstly pls note that our MX 220 will have no "EET FUK" from Jan 15, 2013. But we will present a "EET FUK" sticker as a gift to our MX 220 customers. And you can choose to use it or not according to your preference.

 

 

About The Original Guitar - MX 220 

The very first MX220  was owned by James Hetfield in 1987. James used it a lot, in studio and on stage, so as a result the headstock was broken and repaired many times. James still has the MX220, it was in Making Magnetic. It has been seen in use on the recording of the new album during the making of "Suicide and Redemption".

  

The sticker “EET FUK” which is written by James describes his favorite activities. There was a rumor that the full sticker was EET FUK SLEEP, but James had to chop off “SLEEP” to make it fit on the axe. James still uses it for recording purposes but has retired it for stage use since 1990.

In 1989, ESP started to produce the replicas of this first MX220 guitar. This guitar have special raised middle finger inlays and come only in Olympic white color. In the ESP catalog is called "MX-220 Artist Series". ESP made I belive 45 pieces before James told them to stop making the guitar.

The guitar features mahogany body and mahogany neck, special raised middle finger inlays, and the shape of this guitar is between the Gibson Explorers 1958 and 1976, but with headstock like a "banana".One original guitar costs more than $7000 today. Like the original Left Handed ESP MX220 Guitar Snow White, our guitar is also built with solid Mahogany neck. or mostly referred to as banana headstock with Mahogany veneer. This is a very strong headstock design. Custom designed neck heel that is cross-bred between the KL and the famous MX250II

It is worth mentioning that the pickups we select are Wilkinson pickups, Which is more attractive in quality and price. Wilkinson pickups are what we strongly advise. They will save you much money!!! With top quality, Wilkinson pickups are stable and reliable enough!!!

Of course, we also have original pickups- EMG 81/60, which are James Hetfield’s favorite pickups, and they can give you original James sound. But you need pay extra money.

How Intersting!!!

James Hetfield has been a major endorser of ESP Guitars since the 1980s, and is best known for playing custom-made Explorer-style guitars with an EMG 81/EMG 60 set for pickups. Hetfield's main guitar from the early days was a Flying V copy made in Japan by Electra.

 

But when the headstock broke on his white Flying V, James turned to his backup guitar: a white Gibson Explorer. Although he later got the Flying V repaired and dabbled with other Vs, it was the Explorer that would become his main guitar for nearly the next 15 years. James began using several versions of the 1984 Gibson Explorer. These were unlike the 1976 version, with rounded edges and no pickguard. The Snakebyte is loaded with EMG 81 and 60 humbuckers, which pump out a tone that is clear and tight, excellent for riffs and palm muting.
