Fireman Guitar History

At the beginning, Paul Gilbert used Photoshop to do a transformation of the iceman, reversing the body and add an additional cutaway, which is a little smaller than the original one on the Iceman. Paul designed two versions of the Fireman Guitar, one with Korina body, known as pgmfm1 later, another one with mahogany body, known as pgmfm2 later. Why is it called Fireman Guitar? At first, Paul called it reversed Iceman, but later one of Paul's fans saw the video in which Paul was playing with the guitar online, the fan think since it is a reversed Iceman, then the opposite side of ice is fire, so why not call it Fireman Guitar. So he suggested Paul to give it the name "Fireman". Paul accepted his proposal. In 2009, Ibanez Company officially launched the product, and Paul soon got this Fireman Guitar, using it over his albums and various stage performances. This is the story of the Fireman Guitars' birth.

4. Paul Gilbert Kikusui Fireman Guitar - Custom Edition, the edition we replicated

Since this Fireman Guitar custom edition was custom designed for Paul, Ibanez had not released it with large quantities, but we can see it in some videos, it's Paul's unique guitar and very precious, similar to pgmfm2.

Fireman Guitar custom Edition Design features

Paul's design idea was influenced by Michael Anthony's Jack Daniel bass, Michael ever got the idea "Why cannot he have a guitar like the wine bottle he favored." Long time living in Japan, Paul likes a kind of Japanese sake named Kikusui, so Paul inherited the text design of the Japanese trademark "菊水", light blue body just like the color of the bottle, the body labeled with "菊水", the volume buttons and tune buttons using bottle caps.

Paul Gilbert Ibanez Fireman

When the custom Fireman Guitar came into being, Paul highly praised it. He said Ibanez had done a great work, turning my imagination into reality, producing a guitar that sounds and plays very good. Paul used this particular Fireman Guitar in MR. BIG Reunion tour in Japan.
